A recent Sunday brunch called for a trip south of the river to ember in Milltown. It’s been on my to do list for a while, so was curious to see what sorta buzz it had about it. First impressions were good. A tastefully decorated interior and atmosphere that lies somewhere between a cafe and restaurant. There is a touch of opulence about the place but it feels like a relaxed and easy space to be in. There’s a bar to your left on entry and then a bright open room with big bright windows to the right.

We liked the sound of the menu options. You’ll find a burger option with applewood cheese on a brioche bun, poached eggs with smashed avocado and sourdough toast and a house fry option but we went with the Pan Fried Duck Egg, Toasted Brioche, Maple Chorizo, Avocado & Crispy Potato €12  and the Mexican Benedict, Poached Eggs, Chorizo, Guacamole, Hollandaise & Toasted Sourdough €12 .
The only criticism of the Mexican Benedict is that I expected a little bit more of a mexican kick to it but a very nice dish none the less. The Pan fried Duck had the edge here and is a super little brunch dish and would be my recommendation for you if your in an eggy brunch sorta mood.

Check out how appetizing those dishes look below.

A very pleasant outing indeed both food and atmosphere wise. Ember has a very nice ambience and would be great for a group brunch especially one accompanied by a few cheeky drinks.

Heard great stuff about the dinner menu also so next time I’ll be dropping back of an evening to check that out.
